God's Grace for the Humble
Humble yourselves, therfore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.I Peter 5 : 5 -7
A Thought From the Pastor
Growing in the acceptance of God’s grace is a journey. Peter has outlined that importance of this journey and also given us a direction of how we might do this with a humble spirit in our lives. I would encourage you to take this week and practice the following in your desire to honor our God’s plan of his abundant grace in our lives.
Clothe yourselves with humility – We clothe ourselves with our service of others with an attitude that we don’t think too highly or lowly of ourselves. If you’re struggling with the acceptance of God’s grace usually is an indicator that pride is a problem in your life.
Be patient – Peter tells us that we must wait for God to lift us up. We grow impatient and force outcomes or seek self serving actions and then wonder why God’s presence and spirit isn’t being experienced in our lives.
Cast your anxiety on Him – Humility is truly demonstrated when we let fo of worry, stress and fear and begin to trust in God’s love and care for us.
Spend time in prayer and God’s word focused on grace – I have had the blessing of starting each morning with prayer and a devotional titled “Morning Mercies” that focuses on scriptures that cultivate grace in my life. It has truly promoted an acceptance and reliance on God’s grace in my life and helps my mind focus on his plan for my day.
